shipping Susan Smith Clay ships via UPS, FedEx and USPS. Each shipment is carefully packed and double boxed. When your shipment arrives please note any shipping damage. Since we take such care to ensure that your pottery arrives safely, the shipper will usually reimburse you in case of breakage. *We recycle reusable packing materials whenever possible to be environmentally responsible and save money.
returns You may return any item if you are not completely satisfied within 30 days of the shipment date. Susan Smith Clay will pay for return shipping on defective items only.
quality Susan Smith Clay takes the quality of every item very seriously. Every piece has been inspected for any possible defects. The glazes have been tested to be food safe and compatible with the clay, making sure there is no crazing (tiny cracks in the glaze) or blistering of the glaze surface. There are no cracks in the clay. Every item is non-toxic, microwave and dishwasher safe.
uniqueness Every item is unique because every item is thoughtfully made by hand. Each image of a product reproduced on the website or viewed at a show is a close representation of the item being offered, but minor variations of size and color are inevitable. Susan throws each piece on the potter’s wheel, paints with hand-mixed slips and glazes with a clear, food safe glaze. Each piece has a distinctive quality and charm that cannot be attained by mass produced pottery. Susan Smith Clay is not a factory.
